Welcome to the first Ben Fund Bonanza. This is a meeting run in aid of the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund, which is available to riders injured in British League Speedway.

Each season funds are gathered from the collections at League Speedway meetings and from donations generously made by supporters and sometimes by people who have kindly made provision in their wills. The Bonanza is a new way to raise extra money for this worthy cause.

The Fund enables injured riders to be supported for up to six months. More seriously injured riders are treated on a case by case basis with grants made for special needs. All cases are treated confidentially and the Fund secretary Paul Ackroyd is able to respond quickly if necessary.

Everyone who works for the SRBF is an unpaid volunteer and on behalf of the Trustees I would like to thank them all most sincerely for their efforts. I would also like to thank the riders who are supporting the cause today and of course the Sheffield Promotion without whom this event would not be possible. Most important are you the spectators, who by attending this first Bonanza will be making a big contribution towards helping riders in this great sport.
