Ben Fund Badge Confirmed
Saturday 2nd November 2013
by Steve Davies
I am pleased to announce that after discussions with Paul Ackroyd, the Ben Fund metal badge will again be produced for the 2014 meeting at Leicester on March 9th.
We are delighted at the level of support Speedway fans have given the Ben Badge, buying them every year in large numbers and making a healthy profit for the Ben Fund.

2013 Has been a heavy year financially for the fund with a number of riders sadly sustaining injuries throughout the season and with this in mind we have reluctantly taken the decision to increase the price of Ben to £4, which merely brings the price in line with most Track badges last season.

As in previous years Ben will come in gold and silver and will be available for fans to buy from Mid November to allow fans to buy them as Christmas presents.

Anyone wishing to pre order badges can do so by sending payment by cheque payable to Steve Davies for £4 per badge plus £1 post and packing in a padded envelope for ANY number of badges. Please send to 159 Woodland Road, Stanton, Burton on Trent DE15 9TJ

If any of our friends from overseas would like to purchase badges I am happy to post abroad at the relevant postage cost and am happy to accept pay pal payments to cover the cost of purchase but fees would be added to the badge cost taking the cost to £5 per badge.

It must be stressed that every single penny of profit from the badges goes straight to Paul and normally our friends who buy in advance help me to pay the production costs as soon as we can, which is appreciated by all!

A small number of badges from previous years meetings are available at £3.50

BEN FUND GOLF DAY

I have recently made contact with DARNFORD MOORS a 9 hole golf course in Lichfield,Staffordshire who have offered their facilities to me to hold a Golf Day to raise funds for the Ben Fund. Paul Ackroyd has kindly allowed me to organise a day if there is sufficient interest.

This would take place late February or early March 2014 on a date to be confirmed and the idea Is to invite every track in the country to send a team. It could be riders, fans, referees sponsors in fact anyone involved in the sport. We do know that there are a number of riders who excel at the sport.

Darnford Moors is centrally located and is a course where the game can be played in a more relaxed atmosphere than the usual golf course, making it perfect for pro's and beginners alike.

Despite having never been on a golf course before in my life I organised a small Fund raising Golf day there recently and some of the more established players still found the course challenging.

Ideally we are looking for teams of 4 to represent each track, the day starting with Coffee and Bacon rolls. 18 holes of golf using the Stableford method to decide the winners before retiring to the excellent Club house or the Winners presentations, raffle and the all important food!

The cost of the day will be £50 per player and £25 per player will automatically go to the Ben Fund plus the profits of any sponsorship, raffles etc.

Should anyone require an overnight stay I would be happy to source accommodation in nearby Lichfield, a short taxi ride away on their behalf..

As soon as I know there is sufficient interest I will make the necessary bookings and advise a definite date.

Anyone interested in a day out such as this please let me know on 07799 835388 or walsall1888@aol.com

Every year the Ben Fund needs more funds than ever to cater for the needs of injured riders this could be a fun day out to raise funds for a Charity very close to everyone's heart within our sport.
