Two home boys in the Bonanza field

by Mike Hunter
The next two names to be announced for the event are Ulrich Ostergaard and Michael Palm Toft, two home boys.
Ulrich rode in the meeting at King's Lynn in 2016 but for Michael it will be his first time in the Bonanza.

He said "I've asked a few times to be in it, and I got asked last year and wanted to do it. But the date and the fact that it was in Glasgow just didn't fit in with my calendar. But I'm looking forward to doing it this year. It looks a very strong lineup.

"It's one of the meetings you really want to do as a rider, especially when it's something for us. In a way it's something for us to give back, but it's not, if you know what I mean. It's something we should do at some point in our career, especially when you see that the really top class riders are coming to ride. You don't get any better than a World Champ riding in the meeting.

"I haven't had to use the Ben Fund myself and hopefully I won't have to, but it's a good thing that it's there if I do need it one day. I know quite a few riders who have been helped."

Looking forward to the meeting and the season ahead for Peterborough, he added "I will take the meeting as it comes. It's the start of the season, it's one of the meetings you want to do, not as a test meeting as such but it's a good chance to see where you are, especially in such a good field. I'm in it to win it!

"I think the Panthers can have a good season, if we all gel together. It's a promising team if we can stay away from injuries."

Riders announced so far: Kenneth Bjerre, Hans Andersen, Bjarne Pedersen, Michael Palm Toft, Ulrich Ostergaard and Niels Kristian Iversen (Denmark), Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls, Ben Barker, Danny King and Steve Worrall (UK), Jason Doyle, Sam Masters and Nick Morris (Australia).
