THE first three riders for the 2022 Ben Fund Bonanza have been confirmed: all of them Panthers of Peterborough, and who were crowned champions of the Premiership last season.

Seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls, Ulrich Ostergaard and Jordan Palin kick off announcements for the 16-strong field that will race at the East of England Arena on March 27.

Each, during their career, have been assisted by the Benevolent Fund, with Ostergaard only just returning from serious injuries sustained in 2021.

SRBF Chairman Paul Ackroyd is delighted to have three Panthers confirmed for the event and has described the influx of requests from riders across the country to take part.

He said: "We have said it many times, but to everyone who has fundraised, donated and supported us through those two year we are beyond grateful for every penny you have raised.

"The Ben Fund Bonanza is our biggest fundraiser every season, accounting for up to 25 percent of our income to assist injured riders both in the short and long term.

"We have been blown away by the response from supporters regarding the return of this meeting but also from the riders, who have been queuing up to ask if they can ride.

"We're delighted to have Scott, Jordan and Ulrich kick off the rider announcements, not only as great servants of British Speedway but as riders of the Peterborough Panthers.

"Each has been assisted by the Ben Fund in years gone by, Ulrich most recently after suffering some terrible injuries in the 2021 season.

"We're glad to see him back on the track and just as enthusiastic as ever to give something back; It's just a shame we can only accommodate 16 riders in the field!

"This year's Ben Fund Bonanza will be critical for us. It has been two years since we were able to stage the meeting as a result of the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We hope to have a strong turnout of support on March 27, but the Speedway-going public have always done just that and we are very much looking forward to this event."

Sponsorship opportunities for the 2022 Ben Fund Bonanza are available. We will share details very soon on how you can get involved and help this very worthy cause.
