THE Ben Fund's coffers received a surprise boost - after an out-of-the-blue £1,500 donation from the Barratt Foundation.
It came via BD Living, a division of house builders Barratt Developments PLC, that is responsible for providing the fitted wardrobes at the company's new-build houses, thanks to the efforts of HR Co-ordinator Andy Cotton, the latest beneficiary has been the Ben Fund.
Andy, on behalf of the company's Community Fund donation programme that gifting worthy charitable causes, handed over the whopping cheque at a late season meeting at Sheffield where he and his young son Jamie were special guests.
Paul said: "Every month Barratts choose a charity to give some money to and Andy got in touch completely out of the blue to say we had been chosen to receive the grant. He used to work on the track at Brandon when Martin Ochiltree was running Coventry having taken over from his dad.
"He's not a hardened fan but he likes speedway and goes occasionally but it was the first time he had ever been to Sheffield and he and Jamie enjoyed the meeting."
