SRBF at the Dinner

The SRBF were again present at the annual WSRA Awards Dinner at Leicester last weekend, a happy occasion and a successful one. We were also part of the Awards Ceremony itself.
The shield presented to the track achieving the best Ben Fund Collection of the season went to Ipswich for the third year running, with several notable efforts by other tracks. This was handed from SRBF's Jan Staechmann to Ipswich boss Chris Louis.
A presentation was also made to the participants in the amazing Chris Morton bike ride, each receiving a special memento. It was stated that the riders' efforts raised £15,000, and it also brought great publicity to the SRBF thanks to some hard work by Chris's wife Jackie.
The recipients on stage were the bike trio Chris himself (now fully recovered), Derek Richardson and John Curtis, plus the backup team Gav Rackham and Savalas Clouting. The latter was unfortunately unwell when the presentation was made.
There was a further presentation made to the SRBF and this came from Rob Doran, the well known Ivan Mauger collector, who handed over to Paul Ackroyd a cheque for £1,000 from an evening held in Manchester.
