The Bonanza meeting at Oxford on Sunday 23rd March will be this year's primary fundraiser along with track collections for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund, but the SRBF are also indebted to the regular efforts of generous supporters who have their own ways of raising funds.
About a month after the Bonanza the popular and successful Talk Speedway podcast staff will be taking on a daunting walk. On Sunday 27th April the Talk Speedway Podcast crew will embark on a 107 mile walk from Berwick's Shielfield Park to Redcar's Ecco Arena, all in aid of the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund. Neatly, they will use the title "Walk Speedway".
The walk will take six days, starting the morning after Berwick's match with Edinburgh before ending on May 2 ahead of Redcar's match against Workington.
Scott Frame, Greg Blair, Graham Muncie and Laura Pollard will be joined by guests such as Drew Kemp on the walk and hope to raise as much funds as possible for the Ben Fund. They will welcome anyone from the Speedway Fraternity joining for any part of the walk.
On the walk Scott said, "I have previously done one of these walks for the Stroke Association so I am aware of just how difficult this challenge is going to be, but training started back in November when we first put the idea to Paul Ackroyd so we will be well prepared by the time the walk comes around.
"The Ben Fund does fantastic work for our sport. It really is a selfless organisation that holds such a fantastic standing in the speedway world. It's honestly an honour to play a small part in helping raise funds. We have set a conservative target of £1000 for the walk but in all honesty the goal is to raise a lot more than that.
"Myself and Graham have worked in speedway for over a decade, and for us to play a part in raising funds is an honour in itself. We know of so many riders and ex-riders who have been supported by the Ben Fund and we wanted to help in any way we could.
"In the lead up to walk we will have special giveaways that we are really excited about, and a special piece of artwork that Greg has organised has been commissioned for us to auction with all the proceeds going to the benevolent fund.
"It's early days at the moment but early donations really help keep us all motivated as we pound the pavements in preparation."

In another boost for the SRBF their chairman Paul Ackroyd has confirmed another year of generous support from the World Speedway Riders Association for the Bonanza event.
He said "The WSRA have been tremendous in their support for the meeting, they recognise our aims in assisting our injured riders and support us in the best way possible. We are extremely grateful."
