The SRBF organisers and the Oxford promotion are hoping for an outstanding attendance when the Ben Fund Bonanza is held at Oxford on Sunday 23rd March (6pm). The announcement that ticket sales will be online from Monday 24th February at midday coincides with the addition of another two big name riders in Max Fricke and Maciej Janowski to the top quality field.
Cost of entry is £25 for all categories of admission, but with Under-16s admitted free. Ben Fund Chairman Paul Ackroyd comments "I hope supporters will see their admission money as a donation to the Ben Fund, and so making a contribution towards the welfare of the injured riders. I think the quality of the field will reward everyone attending what should be a great event".
Both this week's additions are making their debut in the Bonanza. Aussie Fricke of course is back in the Grand Prix having qualified via the GP Challenge in Prague, but Janowski isn't in this year's lineup though he is a member of the 100 GP club, with 8 victories and 31 GP finals, a distinguished record by any measure.
Both riders also stay with the same Premiership club as last season, key men with Leicester and Oxford. Janowski is known to do quite a bit of charity work and spent last Christmas visiting children in Hospital.
The Bonanza will again be a 20-heat individual contest with semi-final and final. In addition there will be Women's heats and Kids heats sprinkled through the meeting.
Supporting the event will be ACU Women's Ambassador Pippa Laverty, who has been instrumental in advancing women's Speedway through the FIM Women's Speedway Academy and Gold Trophy. Laverty highlighted the significance of this inclusion:
"Speedway is a fantastic sport, and it's great to see more women getting involved. The continued support of the Ben Fund Bonanza in featuring a women's race is vital to increasing participation. Thanks to the support of the Ben Fund organizers and everyone involved in the sport, we are seeing real progress. Representation matters—if she can see it, she can be it."
Ben Fund Bonanza field so far: Jason Doyle, Charles Wright, Sam Masters, Danny King, Tom Brennan, Erik Riss, Tobiasz Musielak, Adam Ellis, Freddie Lindgren, Lewis Kerr, Maciej Jankowski, Max Fricke.
