Great news for the 2026 Bonanza is that the holder Tom Brennan who won last year's Bonanza at Oxford, will be defending the Trophy at Allied Ashfield on 28th March. He was of course quite badly injured last October at Industry, California.

Tom said "Yes I am intending to ride in the Bonanza. I did a tibia and fibula both fractured on my left leg. It's going good, I've been very fortunate having really good people to help me with that and the injuries are progressing nicely. I'm now trying to get back to some sort of training and things like that, but it's very slow. We're trying to do everything within good reason but as far as I'm concerned we are going to be strong and healthy for the start of the year".

The Ben Fund assists riders injured while racing in British Speedway or racing for a British Club, Team GB or representing GB in a word championship event. So these injuries were outside this remit, but Tom adds "That's correct which is a shame, but it's obviously for the British riders and when we race in the UK or representing GB it is such a nice security to have them when we are racing in the league. It's completely understandable and that's obviously why I am still doing the Ben Fund Bonanza because it is such a good cause".

Brennan has one of the best recent Bonanza records, scoring 12 points in 2022 and 2023 (3rd that year) followed by a win in the final of last season's event after scoring 9 in the qualifiers.

"I hope we can continue that run and make a good defence of the title and as I haven't been to Glasgow for a very long time it would be nice to revisit there and see how we have progressed over the years".

The English star is busy making arrangements for the new season of course. "We've got Vastervik, Bydgoscz and we are just working on the UK now. I really hope to be in the UK, we're trying to finalise the last few bits now and hopefully we should have some news in the next few weeks".
